Can I use a domain name I already have to build my "Agent Resource" web site?
Yes. By default, your URL on The Agent Resource will resemble http://www.theagentresource.com/a/username. However, you can easily have your existing domain name pointed to your "Agent Resource" web site, by simply setting it up through the DNS system at your registrar. Use these two nameservers; dns.sitesinseconds.com and dns2.siteinseconds.com. This can be a confusing process, so please don't hesitate to contact us if you need help. There's no additional charge for this service.

What do I need in order to make an "Agent Resource" web site?
All you need is a computer, Web browser, and access to the Internet. You may also want to consider content and pictures you'd like to add to your site, although you can come back and edit as much as you'd like once your site has been created. The editing process never ends as long as you have changes you'd like to make.

How long does it take to setup my web site?
Your professionally designed web site can be setup in a matter of minutes. You merely choose a design and fill in the five required fields. The rest is optional. As you accumulate the information to "fill out" your site, just log in and enter it as you have the time. It's a very stress-free process, rather than having a designer asking for information to put into your site, you put it in at your leisure. What could be simpler! Once you're happy with your new site, you can still come back and edit as much as you want.

Do I need HTML or design experience?
No. The Agent Resource offers an easy to use service that allows anyone, of any experience level, to create and manage a professional web site. All you need is your browser and an Internet connection! You merely provide the information you'd have to provide anyway- no one knows your business better than you. So, rather than typing it into an email to send to a designer, you type it right onto the pages yourself. And if you ever run into any problems, contact us for assistance.

What features are included with an "Agent Resource" web site?
Each of our web sites offers the following features:
  • Listings page where each listing can be entered, including MLS#, description, price, and picture. Each of the listings also expands to a full-page flyer that can be printed by an agent or client. This section can also be used for featured homes, open houses, homes wanted, or any other housing use.
  • Preformatted Buyers and Sellers page. Both of these allow room for personalized text and offer helpful links and contact forms to help you collect email addresses for further follow up.
  • Contact page that is automatically created using registration information.
  • Links page that will automatically be created if any URLs are entered.
  • External links to connect with your existing MLS system, whether IDX or another system. Just type its address into one of the external links and your listings will appear on your new site.
  • Up to ten custom pages to use as you see fit. Each of these pages allows room for one picture.
  • Several designs to choose from, to provide an attractive working environment while setting up, trying out and showing off your new site. We will create custom graphics to make the site uniquely yours on receipt of your pictures and information.

Can I add pictures to my web site?
Yes. You may upload one picture to each of the ten custom pages you have available. You may also upload eight pictures for each home on your Listings page.

I'm having trouble uploading pictures. What are recommended picture sizes?
While we do not enforce rigid image size specifications, large pictures and/or file sizes may create negative effects on your web site, such as stretching out your site design, covering over body text, or making your site slow to load. The following guidelines will help you avoid these problems, but as always, contact us if you need assistance.

Uploading pictures to the ten custom pages:

  • Try to keep file names short, using only letters and numbers… no spaces! If your picture does not appear, it is most likely the file name was not read. Contact us for help if you are getting uneven results.
  • Keep pictures within 150-250 pixels wide. The wider pictures get, the less room you will have for body text.
  • If you would like a page with only an image, no text, your picture can be up to 400 pixels wide without creating negative effects on the site design. However, keep in mind that if you decide to add body text later, you will have to upload a smaller image to make room on the page.

Uploading pictures to your Listings page:

  • Try to keep file names short, using only letters and numbers… no spaces! If your picture does not appear, it is most likely the file name was not read. Also include your listing number in the filename to decrease the chances of confusing pictures between your listings.
  • Our recommended size for a full-size picture is 400 X 300 pixels. Any size near this will fit nicely, and if you find that your design has stretched, you will need to upload a smaller image.
  • Note: these recommended sizes are similar to the image sizes used on Realtor.com. If your listings, with picture, are available on Realtor.com, you can simply right-click on the desired image and save it for use on your The Agent Resource web site.

How do I manage my Listings page?
Although you elect to include a Listings page as you create your web site, unlike all other content on your site, the Listings page is not managed from your Edit screen. Simply click the "Manage My Listings" link located at the bottom of each page on your site to enter the listings program. From here, you can enter each of your listings, including MLS#, description, price and pictures for each. You can easily add, edit, or remove listings.

How long will it take before other people can view my site on the Web?
Your web site can be viewed immediately! Simply use the address assigned to you when you created your site. However, your site will not automatically appear in search engines. Whether you choose to use your default "Agent Resource" URL or your own domain name, you will need to register your web site with search engines before others will be able to search for your site using a search engine. There are several suggestions to get you started with the search engines on our Search page. The addresses for some of the most important engines is on our Links page

How do I get my web site to show up on search engines?
Check out our Search Engine Submission tips. Here, you will find useful information about the major search engines and links to their submission pages in order to get started. You can also contact us if you need further assistance.

How do I get my domain name pointed to my new site?
Simply login to your domain registrar and enter our DNS in the nameservers boxes. They are dns.sitesinseconds.com and dns2.sitesinseconds.com. The notify us so that we can update our nameservers to help the rest of the Internet find you. Note that you will not want to point to our servers until you've actually purchased your site from us as it does not enter our DNS until that point. Any questions, please contact us.

How do I edit my web site?
You have two options for editing. You can click the Login button on The Agent Resource home page, which will take you to the editing screen. Or you can simply follow the "Edit Site" link at the bottom of each page on your site to reach the same editing screen.

Can I customize my web site?
Yes. You can continually make changes to your web site. Update the content on a daily basis if you'd like! Even better, choose a new design and change the complete look and feel of your site without losing any of your previously added information. You can edit your site anytime, anywhere, at no additional charge.

What do I do if my web site seems to be missing a feature I need?
We offer affordable rates on web site customization, whether you would like to add functionality, a custom design, or you'd like a completely custom web site. Check out our sister site, EnthusiCOM, for more information or to submit your requirements for a quote. We are also continually enhancing and upgrading the options for your sites, so if you feel that your need may be useful to others as well, please submit your idea to our Suggestion Box, and we will look into implementing it as a standard feature.
